Our History
SnowWorld opened its first indoor ski park in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, in December 1996, with two 160 meter-long descents on real snow. In constructing both our Zoetermeer and Landgraaf centres, we have focused on providing high quality indoor skiing to visitors and complementing this with fitness and leisure facilities such as restaurants, bars, shops, wellness centres and other entertainment. In December 2001, SnowWorld opened a third descent at the Zoetermeer centre that is 210 meters long and can be classified as a challenging "red" slope at a 20° angle. The descent is 35 meters wide, which allowed us to install drag and band lifts and thereby become one of the leading indoor ski facilities in Europe at that time.

Based on the success of the Zoetermeer centre, SnowWorld developed a larger facility in the southern Dutch province of Limburg in January 2002, with an indoor ski slope measuring 520 metres in length. Together with ski and snowboard training schools, indoor chair lifts, restaurants and other traditional ski resort-type offerings, it became a 13,000 square meter indoor ski resort. In October 2003, we opened an additional 520 meter-long slope and a fun park, becoming the largest indoor facility in the world with a total snow covered surface area of 35,000 square meters.

In October 2003, Landgraaf hosted the world's first indoor Snowboard FIS World Cup Parallel Slalom event. We have hosted the televised Snowboard FIS World Cup every year since 2003. In addition to the Snowboard FIS World Cup, we have hosted several other international ski competitions since 2004 including the FIS Europe Cup Alpine Ski event.

Currently, SnowWorld has two indoor ski centres that each offer three slopes and two beginner slopes and complementary sports retail shopping, dining, leisure and health and fitness facilities.

In March 2008 SnowWorld Landgraaf will open a 100 room quality Sports hotel with a capacity of 400 beds. In addition of that extra restaurants and conference rooms will be added.
